The Piccadilly Dance Orchestra’s
20th Anniversary Concert
Michael Law’s Piccadilly Dance Orchestra mark their 20th Anniversary with a brand new show!
Join us for an unashamed wallow in pure nostalgia for the lost, magical world of Broadway and Hollywood music from between the wars. Stylish, sophisticated, smooth… Michael Law’s Piccadilly Dance Orchestra recreate the glamour of the Golden Age of popular music, the 1920’s to 40’s, along with a hearty helping of foot-tapping jazz and dance music.
The 10-piece orchestra (which is also available as a 13* or 16** piece) is joined by male and female*** “crooners” - just sit back and watch the audience swoon to the sounds that bring to life the elegant, jazz and swing – flavoured “Art Deco” era.
Linking the glorious music are fascinating and hilarious anecdotes about the many interesting people that Michael and the orchestra have encountered over the past twenty years – personalities as varied as:
the Princesses Margaret, Anne and Diana, Sammy Cahn, Raine Spencer, Sheridan Morley, Christopher Lee, George Melly, Sean Connery and Julie Andrews!
* with the addition of one further trumpet, trombone and saxophone
** with the addition of three violins to the 13 piece PDO
*** also available with three female vocalists
Hollywood Party
The Piccadilly Dance Orchestra presents in its inimitable “Art Deco” style an all-new celebration of the Golden Age of the Hollywood Musical. From Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers to Dick Powell and Ruby Keeler, Hollywood brought us for one brief shining moment some of the greatest songs ever written: "Isn't It Romantic", "Cheek To Cheek", "Puttin' On the Ritz" and "Forty-Second Street" are just a few of the songs that characterised the Hollywood musical at its fleetest of foot.
Tonight we look back at a whole lost world where top hats, white ties and tails were the dress code, and love was forever in the air. The programme includes great songs written for Eddie Cantor, Maurice Chevalier, The Busby Berkeley musicals and hits from that Crosby/Sinatra favourite, High Society.
A gala treat of jazz, big band and dance band music, with the bonus of a superb lady crooner.

A superb lady vocalist is the final ingredient in this heady cocktail!
The programme features a de-lovely cocktail of great songs by Cole Porter, the Gershwin brothers, Duke Ellington and others, which The Piccadilly Dance Orchestra performed during their six-year residency at London’s legendary Savoy Hotel.

78rpm Jazz Band
"I felt I was taking a risk in not hearing 78rpm prior to our wedding, but the risk was well worth taking. Awesome musicians, great playlist - they even took the time to learn the song we wanted for our first dance. I would both recommend and book again. If I saw they were playing a local venue, I'd be there in a shot” Anthony Davies (private client).
